Trust Mary’s Love of Carver County

Mary Welch loves living in Carver County. But as Executive Director of the Chaska Land Trust, Mary also helps others buy a home in Chaska and Carver County.

What is a land trust? According to Mary’s web site:

A community land trust (CLT) is a non-profit corporation created to provide secure, affordable access to land and housing for community members, attempting to meet the needs of those least served by the prevailing market.

A community land trust helps lower income people own homes on land that is leased from the land trust through long-term (99-year), renewable ground leases.

Governmental and private grants further subsidize homes on the ‘front end’ thereby “locking in” the benefit of these subsidies one homeowner after another.

This innovative service is worth looking into if you think buying a home is out of reach for you.

Commuting From Heaven

The Chaska Herald had an article Wednesday on Carver County commute time.

In Carver County, commute times are expected to continue to decline as new Highway 212 opens and residents gain a freeway alternative to existing Highway 212 and Highway 5. County commute time holds steady; Average commute to work is 25 minutes

I know I can’t wait until the new highway is done.

But, one thing the article didn’t mention is how Carver County commute time compares to the nation. It’s very comparable. The national average is 25.1 minutes compared to Carver County’s 25 minutes.

Bluff Pointe

Chaska developers were quick to offer, single family, homes to this prime location during the building boom of the late 1980’s and early 1990’s.

Hilltop views to the scenic south make these houses feel like home. Upgraded landscaping and mature trees offer comfort and plenty of “curb appeal” throughout. Close proximity to Audubon and 212 mean your drive to work is unhindered.

Bluff Pointe is located just minutes from downtown Chaska, shopping and the Chaska Community Center. Also very close is Chaska High School, Pioneer Ridge Freshman Center and Chaska Elementary.

Clover Field Neighborhood

Cloverfield Homes

Chaska’s newest addition features the new urbanism design of Clover Field. This mixed development has a comfortable blend of traditional homes, cozy neighborhoods and some of the newest designs in modern living.

Single family homes in the $250 to $550k range are wrapped around Chaska’s District #112 Clover Field Elementary School. Don’t worry about all those issues that can go with a long bus ride - - the kids can walk to school with their friends.

Clover Field is specifically designed to build that sense of community that some folks feel went away with Mayberry. Take a look at the fresh air front porches. It just might make you feel like you’re at Grandma’s house again.

Nearby Victoria Drive and Hundertmark Road give a touch of European influence, just by their names. The new European-style roundabout intersection adds another element to that same feel, plus its reputation for safety.

Builder is completing the new urbanism design with convenient shopping just steps away.

Be sure you check for wildlife sightings and sunset photo ops over the large natural pond to the southwest. Your family Christmas card picture is ready to be taken. Smile!
